Any interface a human uses on a vehicle can be automated, including:

  • Steering (via either mechanical or hydraulic automation)
  • Throttle/accelerator
  • Brakes
  • Engine running and starting
  • Turn signals
  • Headlights
  • Windshield wipers
  • Environmental control (heating and cooling)
